Waites enters the London exterior market
The project covers an area known as Blackwall Reach, which includes the council's housing site at Robin Hood Gardens, part of Poplar High Street, Woolmore Primary School, a doctors surgery and an area to the south around Blackwall DLR station. Work to be carried out includes demolition and site clearance followed by construction of residential units, a school, community building, shops and commercial units.
The project may be split into several phases with expected outputs of between 1,600 and 2,000 residential units of mixed tenure properties. The development partner could either be a registered social landlord with development expertise or a consortium registered social landlord, developers and/or contractors.
Interested firms have until 29 January to submit pre-qualification questionnaires and up to six bidders will be shortlisted and invited to tender.

Waites waits for no man!
The contract will run for at least five years with an optional extension of up to 10 years and additional properties may be added or removed from the scope of the contract.
The registered social landlord remains undecided on whether the contractor will also carry out gas servicing and other planned works. Between five and 12 firms will be invited to tender on 21 January 2010. Contractors have until 11 December to submit pre-qualification questionnaires.
